Verona, 1954 Handsome modern Hungarian violin from the mid-20th century on a modified Gagliano pattern. The initials EB are branded on the lower rib. Inside, a signature in Hungarian (illegible). In fine condition, this violin has been lovingly cared for with the only alterations being relocated F hole notching to indicate proper bridge alignment and an expertly repaired crack emerging below the treble F hole and not directly over the soundpost area. Medium high arching and individualistic characteristics mark this unique, handmade violin. The tone of this instrument is outstanding. One of the most brilliant, projecting E strings we have ever heard. It has nearly unlimited reserve to cut through a full orchestra's sound without a hint of shrillness. The lower strings are very evenly matched, brilliant in quality and power, with a golden sonority matching the transparent, honey-gold varnish.
