FECIT ROMA, ITALY, 1929 Fine violin with handsome varnish and creamy, dark, projecting tone of great evenness across the strings. Good condition with short minor cracks close to saddle. The two piece back and ribs are of well flamed maple. Scroll of plainer stock. A 3" crack emerging from the top of the treble F hole and running down is not in the soundpost area. Crisply detailed features; fine, thin and meticulously inlaid purfling highlight this instrument. Beautiful ebony accessories include a Hill-style tailpiece and gold-trimmed pegs. QUESTIONS?
