A mint condition modern Italian viola with an Italian certificate of authenticity. This viola was purchased from an Italian collector in Rome. Branded on rib below tailpiece, on button and on top block. The top is carved from gorgeous, medium grained, resonant spruce. The two-piece back and ribs are of very handsome flamed maple, pinned to the blocks with ebony. Truly a gorgeous execution, with elegant finishing of the details, including graceful arching and fluting and perfection of inlay of the purfling. The varnish is a light golden-brown and of beautiful transparency and suppleness. The scroll is also beautifully and confidently executed. Ready to play.
