Certified as Guidici School (probably by Giudici) Violin of the School of Giudici, Varese, 1974. A violin with character and interest. This Italian violin comes from a collector in Rome. Certificate by Carfagna of Rome attesting to "School of Giudici." Probably the late work of Carlo G., this violin is constructed on a loose Strad pattern from an attractive two-piece maple back cut on the slab and nicely flamed ribs and scroll. In near mint condition with a only a 4 cm saddle crack, securely repaired. Humorous Latin allusion on the label to father Antonio's penchant for the local tavern vino, "Cui Cognomen Mezet - Of the Family Nickname 'Half-Pint'" The instrument is a bit rustic in execution but with a tone that is Italian through and through! Rich, burgundy overtones not unlike the Vespolina wines of which papa Antonio was so fond and characterize the alpine foothill town of its maker. QUESTIONS?
