PARIS, 1939 A beautiful model of individual character and bold execution, evoking the model of Petrus Guarnerius. The top, of medium grained spruce, the back, is of a one-piece slab cut, sumptuously flamed piece of maple, descending from left to right. Ribs of equally bold flamed maple, scroll of moderately flamed stock. The varnish, of golden reddish brown hue over a yellow ground, is soft, transparent and pliable. This violin has an exceptionally brilliant tone, bright but not harsh. It is in near mint condition but for a 2" regluing of the center seam under the tailpiece, invisible and insignificant.
