SUZZARA (MANTUA), ITALY c. 1960-'65 An outstanding modern Italian violin of the Scarampella school, modeled on the Amati pattern. This violin has a robust tone with sweet creamy richness over its entire range. The wood, beautifully chosen for tonal and visual beauty. The pattern is slightly narrow and the top has a slightly elevated arch. The one-piece back is made of beautifully flamed maple descending slightly from left to right. Ribs and scroll of similar maple. The top, of medium grain spruce, is even and very handsome. Workmanship meticulously clean and artistic. It is covered with a lustrous, radiant and transparent characteristic Mantuan reddish oil varnish over a golden ground. Comes with rosewood accessories. It is in mint condition.
