CORTETANO (CREMONA), ITALY 2002 A true work of art from one who is in our judgement among the top makers in Cremona and the world today. Maurizio Tadioli was born in Cremona on September 16, 1967. He began studying the art of violin making as a child guided by his grandfather Carlo Pizzamiglio, a self taught luthier. He attended the Scuola Internazionale di Liuteria in Cremona obtaining his diploma in 1985 and has won multiple prizes in instrument making competitions. This violin is patterned after the "Cremonese" Stradivari from the year 1715 which is on display in the town hall of Cremona. It also is branded and signed by the maker. The wood, masterfully selected by the maker for tonal and visual beauty. The one-piece back is made of gently flamed, slab cut maple descending slightly from left to right. Ribs and scroll of similar maple. The top, of fine grain spruce, is even and very handsome. Workmanship meticulously clean and artistic. It is covered with a lustrous Cremonese reddish-amber varnish over a golden ground, most artistically and tastefully antiqued. Comes with boxwood accessories (chinrest not shown). It is in mint condition. The tone is bold, focused and possessing incredible clarity and maturity. The resonance is incredible. The violin speaks instantly with a voice of authority.
