CREMONA, ITALY, 2003

A visit to Cremona in 2002 bore fruit in the acquaintance with the brothers Villa (Marcello and Vittorio). STRINGNET proudly offers an example of Vittorio Villa's stunning artistry in this, the Alanus Guarneri model.

Born in Monza on December 21st ,1961, has a Conservatory Diploma in Violin playing and has performed as a violinist with important Italian Orchestras as Verona's "Arena Orchestra" and the "Angelicum" of Milan. He obtained the Diploma of Violinmaker at the International Violinmaking School of Cremona under the guidance of his brother Marcello Villa.

Words come up short in attempting to describe the beauty of this violin. One would have to use adjectives such as "breathtaking" to describe the reaction upon seeing an instrument whose first impression says "Old Cremonese Master." And that impression is borne out when examining the violin further. The wood Stradivari would have proudly carved adorns this violin. The one-piece back is made of boldly flamed maple descending from right to left. Ribs also of boldly flamed stock. The top, ohand-picked fine grain spruce, is even and very handsome. Workmanship meticulously clean and artistic. It is covered with a lustrous Cremonese reddish-amber varnish over a golden ground, most artistically and tastefully antiqued. Comes with boxwood accessories.

The tone is mature, smooth, bold, focused and possessing incredible clarity and maturity. This violin already possesses a voice of authority and would offer a commanding visual beauty as well as incredible tonal resources. The beauty of sound this Guarneri pattern masterpiece already has can only grow with playing and age.

Certificate on CD ROM with detailed description and color photos detailing every phase of construction accompanies this violin.
