CREMONA, ITALY A visit to Cremona in 2002 bore fruit in the acquaintance with the brothers Villa (Marcello and Vittorio). STRINGNET proudly offers the violins of Vittorio Villa's stunning artistry by commission order. You can choose the model (Strad, Guarneri, etc) and even the nickname on the label. Lead time, approx 3-4 months. Born in Monza on December 21st ,1961, has a Conservatory Diploma in Violin playing and has performed as a violinist with important Italian Orchestras as Verona's "Arena Orchestra" and the "Angelicum" of Milan. He obtained the Diploma of Violinmaker at the International Violinmaking School of Cremona under the guidance of his brother Marcello Villa. One would have to use adjectives such as breathtaking to describe an instrument whose first impression says "Old Cremonese Master." And that impression is borne out when examining the violins of Maestro Villa further. The wood will be personally selected by Maestro Villa for its unsurpassed quality and resonance. If you prefer choosing your own wood, Mr. Villa will offer photos of several examples of raw maple stock from which you may choose that which most appeals to your taste. Workmanship is meticulously clean and artistic. It is covered with a soft, lustrous and transparent oil varnish over a golden ground, most artistically and tastefully antiqued. Comes with choice of ebony, rosewood or boxwood accessories. The tone is consistently mature, smooth, bold, focused and possessing incredible clarity and maturity. A brand new Villa violin already possesses a voice of authority and would offer commanding visual beauty as well as incredible tonal resources that will only grow with playing and age.
Certificate on CD ROM with detailed description and color photos detailing every phase of construction accompanies this violin. NOTE: The example shown is not for sale. It is only to demonstrate the quality of this master's work. The violin you receive will be custom made to your specifications and be of equal beauty.
